Nuggets

She dressed in white on the wings of
razor blades we used to call
friends
calling out the names of fathers past
a courtship ends.

Fallopian tubes are
antelopes
caught in the tangle of
hips and if you press down
just here
you’ll understand.

I dreamed we ran through
all
the places we’d been
looking for a bed
last this time

yet awake again
I am
alone
with no train
to
Montauk.

Too hot to wait for kisses
you think you
had once
in a few hours it was
over
and
we
smiled into windows
reflection
dreaming of salt.
