The Universe

Danny began
to refer to himself

as The Universe
in all of his poems.

“The Universe is tired
of I this and I that,” He said.

What made it
even more confusing

was the miscommunication
as to the Universe’s whereabouts:

for example when asked
where The Universe had been,

The Universe responded,
“The Universe was in Japan.”

When she further queried,
“I thought The Universe

was in the garage?”
“That’s what

The Universe said,”
The Universe said.
